What a crazy year it’s been. This is how lockdown went for me!

So back in March this year we got the worrying news that the UK was going to be joining other countries in lockdown due to COVID 19. I was still going into work due to working in a nursery and caring for key workers children. A week in though we had to close and we were put on furlough for a while. This is where the real lockdown really happened for me, at the end of March.

Don’t get me wrong it was really nice having some time off of work, spending time with my family and watching excessive amounts of Netflix and Youtube but it was quite a stressful and scary time and it wasn’t long until I started getting

bored. I was bored of hour daily walks, day time TV and not being able to see my boyfriend and my friends.

Me and my sister went on several walks a week, normally around sunset time when the views were pretty and there were less people around. I ended up spending a lot of time sunbathing in the garden and enjoying the English weather.

If I’m honest I am very lucky where I live. I have a few local walking spots such as Haysden and Barden Lake, a foot bridge which overlooks some train tracks, a rather quiet but open neighbourhood and the high street just down the road.

I was lucky to see James on a few occasions, socially distanced of course. We went for a dog walk round James’s area, we went for a nice woodland walk round Dene Park and just a few other park walks.

Also during lockdown we celebrated VE Day. We put up a big Union Jack flag in the back garden, hung flag banners around the sheds and the gazebo and also enjoyed a delish BBQ.

Nearer the end of lockdown me and James done some quizzes with friends online and I began to see more of James from then onwards as the rules began to be lifted slowly.

We also saw saw friends on some safe, socially distanced walks too. One of my favourite being around Ashdown Forest even though the hill walk on the way back was awful.

Even though now we are back in lockdown again, the rules are slightly less restricting and lives are more normal than they were back in the first lockdown. I am just very grateful that myself, my family and my friends are well and safe and obviously extremely grateful for the NHS, key workers and everyone else helping us to get through these tough times!

Please remember you are not alone and there is always someone there to listen or talk to!
